Women’s Tennis Welcomes Nationally Recognized Recruiting Class – Boston University Athletics

BOSTON – The Boston University women’s tennis team is prepped to bring in an impactful recruiting class with Madison Liu, Gabriella Mikaul and Emily Tan who were ranked No. 6 in the mid-major poll released by TennisRecruiting.net. The class is the highest ranked in the Patriot League and is BU’s third appearance at the No. 6 spot. BU’s 2020 and 2009 classes also ranked sixth.
 
The TRN mid-major rankings include colleges outside of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and the Ivy League. Head coach Lesley Sheehan‘s recruiting classes have been recognized in the poll 15 times.
 
Madison Liu
A five-star recruit out of Wilmette, Ill., Liu ranked as high as No. 40 in the 2024 recruiting class. She is also ranked third in the state of Illinois and sixth in the Great Lakes region. She boasts 13 singles wins against fellow five-star recruits and has a UTR of 9.52.
 
Gabriella Mikaul
Out of Manalapan, N.J., Mikaul is another five-star recruit for the Terriers. She ranked as high as No. 29 in the 2024 recruiting class, is No. 2 in New Jersey and No. 8 in the Middle Atlantic region. She heads to BU with an ITF ranking of 155 and a UTR of 9.46.
 
Emily Tan
The third freshman joining the BU roster is four-star Tan from Saratoga, Calif. Tan reached a national recruiting ranking of No. 129 in the 2024 season. She has a UTR of 8.53 and a world tennis number of 18.98 in singles.
