Women’s Tennis Earns Two All-League Honorees – Ithaca College Athletics
TROY, N.Y. – As announced by the Liberty League conference office on Tuesday, May 21, the Ithaca College women’s tennis team saw Taylor Crain earn All-Liberty League First Team honors and Crain along with her doubles partner Alys Pop were also recognized as Second Team All-Liberty League.
Crain earns All-Conference honors for the third consecutive season as she has earned a spot on the First Team in each of her collegiate seasons in singles play. Once again holding down the top spot in the Bombers lineup for the entire season, Taylor Crain posted an 11-6 record, which included a 5-3 mark in conference matches and she defeated nationally ranked Josephine Libby from the University of Rochester (6-2, 6-3). Crain ended her season on a high note defeating RPI’s Lorna Flores Gonzalez by set scores of 6-2, 0-6 and 10-8.
Taylor Crain and Alys Pop combined to record a 6-5 doubles record as they were the lone IC tandem to finish with a winning record together on the season. The duo went 6-5 in dual matches winning each of their matches in the top flight including a win over St. Lawrence’s Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and Molly Jespersen during Liberty League action.
The Bombers finished the 2024 season with an 8-10 overall record and were 3-5 in Liberty League action as they once again qualified for the LL Championships earning the No. 6 seed where they eventually fell to No. 3 RPI in the quarterfinals.
