Women’s Golf Earns Three WGCA All-American Scholars – University of Central Arkansas Athletics

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women’s golf team produced on the course and in the classroom this season, adding another academic award this summer. The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced that three Bears were named to the organization’s All-American Scholar Team for their academic endeavors this past season.
 
Senior Pim-orn Thitisup and juniors Madison Holmes and Ayami Takahashi were named to the team, which required the student-athletes to maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA while playing in at least 50 percent of the team’s rounds.
 
Thitisup maintained her 3.50 while majoring in Marketing. The senior played in 26 rounds this season, posting a 75.12 stroke average. She had three top-20 finishes, including a season-best fifth place at the Judson. Her efforts in Hattiesburg helped the Bears claim a team victory for a fourth-straight season.
 
Holmes, who was named a Second Team All-ASUN golfer, earned her spot on the WGCA’s list after raising her cumulative GPA to 3.77 after posting a 4.0 in the spring, while nearing completion of her Insurance and Risk Management major. Holmes held the team’s best stroke average this past season with a 73.86. The junior finished in the top 20 six times, with four top-10 spots. Her best finish of the season came at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, where she finished as the runner-up out in Wolcott, Colorado.
 
Takahashi was a new addition to the Bears this season, joining the squad from Seminole State College. Majoring in Marketing, the junior holds a 3.61 cumulative GPA, more than good enough to add herself to the prestigious list. During the season, she averaged 76.34 strokes per round, and had a season-best finish of 21^st at the Lady Red Wolves Classic in Jonesboro.
