Women’s basketball adds South Carolina high school wing Hyman – Bellarmine University Athletics

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University women’s basketball coach Chancellor Dugan on Thursday announced the addition of South Carolina product Kayce Hyman.

A 5-foot-10 wing, Hyman played her first two prep seasons at Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, South Carolina, and her last two at Hammond School in Columbia, starting since the middle of her freshman year.

“Kayce is a fierce competitor who can score at all three levels, but what I love about her is that she loves to rebound,” Dugan said.

As a junior and senior, Hyman was recognized as All-Region and as a SCISA All-Star. The native of Irmo, South Carolina, was named co-MVP of a Capital City Classic game. Her season high was 27 points. She played club ball for the Palmetto 76ers.

“When I visited Bellarmine, I felt that I was at a school where I could grow, and I would have coaches that will believe in me and trust me,” Hyman said. “I fell in love with the school and coaches.”

In addition to basketball, Hyman was a track and field standout at Hammond School. She was a two-time state qualifier in the high jump and also qualified for state in the long jump and 4×400 relay. Hyman was a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
