Serious crimes investigators are looking into the discovery of a 28-year-old woman’s body on the shores of Okanagan Lake.
Kelowna RCMP were called to Waterfront Park on the lake at about 7 a.m. Friday.
Police have released little information and say a cause of death has not been determined, but say the public is not at risk.
“At this point, the RCMP can confirm that the deceased female was 28 years old,” said Sgt. Judith Bertrand. “No other details about her identity can be provided at this time.

Guide fined, handed 10-year ban for wildlife violations
A former assistant hunter’s guide in the Fort Nelson area has been fined $22,000 and slapped with a 10-year guiding prohibition for violating the B.C. Wildlife Act.
Richard Todd Bunnage was handed the penalties in provincial court in Cranbrook last week after he pleaded guilty to three offences, including guiding outside permitted territory and knowingly making a false statement in a report.
The B.C. Conservation Officer Service (COS) investigated from 2019 to 2021 after Bunnage guided non-resident hunters in prohibited areas. He also lied in a mandated declaration about where two moose and two black bears had been shot.
The fine includes $12,000 plus a victim surcharge and $10,000 to be paid to the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation. Bunnage also cannot work as a guide outfitter or assistant guide in B.C. for the next decade.
“This is not the first time Bunnage has received a court-ordered penalty following a COS investigation,” said the service in a statement. In May 2022, he also pleaded guilty to being involved in illegal guiding with the Tenaka River Guide Service in B.C., when a moose and black bear were illegally killed.
Bunnage was also fined for similar violations in Alberta in 2018.
