The last game of Group 2 in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 expected to be a cracker when the co-hosts West Indies take on South Africa at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Monday morning (June 24). West Indies posted 135-8 in 20 Overs as Shamsi and company bowlerd brilliantly. When South Africa were 15-2 in 2 Overs, the rain stopped play. What if South Africa vs West Indies Super 8 match gets washed out? South Africa will join England if SA vs WI match gets washed out. To constitute a T20 game, both sides should play at least 5 overs. In this case, five overs of South Africa’s innings are not completed and both teams will share a point each.  South Africa will have five points if rmatch gets washed out and qualify for semifinal as top team from Group 2.

After the rain break match resumed at at 9:15 AM IST. Three overs lost due to rain. The revised target for South Africa is 123 (DLS method), which means they need 108 off 90 balls. Two bowlers can bowl 4 overs, three can bowl 3 each.  

What if South Africa vs West Indies Super 8 match doesn’t get washed out?

Even though West Indies has only two points and the Proteas have four, this game is a ‘winner takes it all’ contest. It is a virtual quarterfinal with the winner claiming a semi-final spot.
