Where To Post Jobs In 2024

There are dozens of online job boards that boast strengths and weaknesses in different areas. Here’s a quick glance at some of the most popular options.

Job Bank Canada

This is the job board provided by the Government of Canada. It allows you to post a job for free, for 30 days at a time, as long as it conforms to the following terms of use:

It is great if you want to post a job that can be viewed nationally and get advice 0n how to post, along with government hiring and business resources at the same time. Of course, it might be too nondescript to attract attention and you’re competing with over a hundred thousand other jobs, so there’s a danger of getting lost in the shuffle and your posting never actually being seen.

However, you can attract many different kinds of people, including people with disabilities and students. You can limit your candidates by province and get free tips for attracting specific groups.

CareerBuilder Canada

CareerBuilder Canada offers what most job sites do, but they say that their career trends database will help you narrow your search for the right candidate and prevent you from languishing and wasting time searching as a recruiter. They can accommodate your postings whether you are a sole-proprietorship, a small business or a corporate enterprise, but posting jobs on the site can get pricey if you have a lot of positions to fill.

  • One job. To post one job for 30 days using the standard layout costs $489 CAD.
  • Three jobs. To post three jobs for 30 days using the standard layout costs $1,119 CAD (a 23% savings).
  • Five jobs. To post five jobs for 30 days using the standard layout costs $1,745 CAD (a 28% savings).
  • Resume database. To access CareerBuilder’s resume database for 30 days and save your searches costs $500 CAD (a savings of $250 CAD).

Eluta.ca

The only job board managed by Canada’s Top 100 Employers Project, this sparse website indexes jobs directly from employer websites at a very high volume. They offer reviews of every employer they post jobs for and allow job seekers to target the top 100 employers in Canada.

It’s likely the jobs you’re posting are already included on Eluta.ca, as its algorithm is crawling employers’ websites across the country. If, after you search Eluta, you can’t find your job, you can contact Eluta by phone or email and they will crawl your site and grab the job. You don’t have to do anything else.

LinkedIn

On LinkedIn, you can leverage the presence of over 800 million professionals spread across 200 countries to find the right candidate for your needs. LinkedIn allows both free and promoted postings.

When you opt for promoting your job listings, you get three times more qualified applicants because of the broader reach and priority display for job searches. You also get access to candidate filtering and screening tools to make your recruitment process smoother.
