Basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is on the horizon.
While competition begins in late July, many teams have already started to prepare for the tournament. In April, four-time defending Olympic gold medalist Team USA became the first to finalize its roster, which is headlined by LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
The United States Men’s National Team is just one of 12 teams set to compete in this year’s Olympic basketball tournament. And while four spots will be determined at Olympic qualifiers in July, all eyes are on who will compete for the other seven nations that have already clinched an Olympic berth.
When will these Olympic basketball teams get announced? Here is when to expect roster announcements for basketball at the Olympics.

When will Team Canada be announced?
Rosters for men’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be finalized shortly before the competition begins on July 27.
Here is more from FIBA’s men’s basketball roster tracker: “Final rosters will be confirmed following the Technical Meeting, which is set to take place before the start of the competition.”
Specific to Team Canada, the group will convene in Toronto for training camp in late June before traveling to Las Vegas to open their exhibition schedule against the United States on July 10.

12 teams will participate in the men’s 5×5 Olympic basketball tournament. Eight teams have already qualified with four more spots to be determined during Olympic Qualifiers in July.
Here is the list of teams set to participate:
- France, host nation
- South Sudan, FIBA Africa
- Canada, FIBA Americas
- United States, FIBA Americas
- Japan, FIBA Asia
- Germany, FIBA Europe
- Serbia, FIBA Europe
- Australia, FIBA Oceania
The below teams will compete in the four Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, which take place from July 2 to 7. One team will advance from each of the four tournaments.
- Tournament 1 (Valencia, Spain): Lebanon, Angola, Spain, Finland, Poland, Bahamas
- Tournament 2 (Riga, Latvia): Georgia, Philippines, Latvia, Brazil, Cameroon, Montenegro
- Tournament 3 (Piraeus, Greece): Slovenia, New Zealand, Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Dominican Republic
- Tournament 4 (San Juan, Puerto Rico): Mexico, Ivory Coast, Lithuania, Italy, Puerto Rico, Bahrain
The winners from tournaments played in Spain and Greece will join Group A, the winner from the tournament in Latvia will join Group B and the winner from the tournament played in Puerto Rico will join Group C.
When is basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

The 5×5 men’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics opens with the group stage on Saturday, July 27. Group play concludes on Sunday, Aug. 4 and the quarterfinals begin on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
The semifinals will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8. The bronze medal and gold medal games will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10.
Group play will be held at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, France while the final phase of games will be played at Paris’ Accor Arena.
