WCL 2024 Final: India Champions Win Inaugural Edition, Beat Pakistan Champions By 5 Wickets

WCL 2024 Final: India Champions are crowned as winners of the inaugural edition of the World Championship Of Legends 2024, as the Yuvraj Singh-led side registered a thumping win over fierce rivals Pakistan Champions in the final. India won the match by 5 wickets at the iconic Edgbaston, as a chase of 157 never bothered the ‘Men in Blue’ and Irfan Pathan struck the winning boundary in the final over off Sohail Tanvir to deliver the win. With this, the exciting league of legends now comes to an end.

India Champions Vs Pakistan Champions WCL 2024 Final Highlights

Electing to bat first, Pakistan Champions did not do justice to their decision, as their batters failed to leave an impression as their top order faltered against an excellent Indian bowling that hardly put in a foot wrong throughout the match. India’s impeccable combination of spin and pace gave the in-form batting order of Pakistan Champions a hard time and restrcited them to 79/4 inside 11.3 overs.

India Vs Pakistan is an intense rivalry and it always brings out the best from the individuals and not just the performance, but emotions as well, as Vinay Kumar and Irfan Pathan did not hide their emotions at all after chipping in key wickets.

Pakistan’s lower order failed to chip in vital runs this time as India successfully restricted their neighbours inside 160 runs, and all India needed was a rather easy target of 157 on a two-paced wicket.

Indian batters were off to a flying start and the openers made sure they keep up the ante, as Pakistan had been tournament’s best bowling side. Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu smashed a quickfire 34 for first wicket, beofre the former fell to Aamer Yamin.

Suresh Raina followed Uthappa in quick succession as India were restricted to 38/2 after 3 overs, but this did not disrupt the momentum of the Indian side, as an excellent 50 from Ambati Rayudu, complemented by quickfire 30 off 16 from Yusuf Pathan put the game to bed, and finishing touch was provided by Irfan Pathan, as he smashed the winning boundary off Sohail Tanvir down the ground to script a 5-wicket win for India.
