VW Shows New Golf GTI Clubsport

Facelift for the most powerful Golf with front-wheel drive: The new VW Golf GTI Clubsport celebrated its premiere at the Nürburgring.

The revised VW Golf GTI Clubsport features a redesigned front end with LED Plus headlights as standard and an illuminated VW logo. The LED tail lights have also been redesigned, while a large roof spoiler is intended to provide downforce. The GTI Clubsport is fitted with new 19″ ‘Queenstown’ alloy wheels, and the 8 kg “Warmenau” forged wheels are also available as an option. In the interior, the driver grips a new multifunction leather sports steering wheel, while the revised infotainment system with IDA voice assistance also works in the Clubsport in line with the Golf update.

The turbocharged petrol engine (EA888 LK3 evo4) continues to offer an output of 221 kW (300 PS). The maximum torque of 400 Nm is transferred to the road via the DSG and an electronically controlled front axle differential lock. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 5.6 s, the top speed of the most powerful GTI is electronically limited to 250 km/h. With the optional “Race Package”, the limit can be lifted, making 267 km/h possible. The DCC adaptive chassis control is optionally on board. It enables the exclusive “Special” driving profile, in which systems relevant to driving dynamics are tuned to the special track characteristics of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. For example, the DCC can better compensate for bumps thanks to special vertical tuning.

Premiere of the Golf GTI Clubsport at the Nürburgring

The most powerful Golf with front-wheel drive was unveiled at the ADAC 24-hour race at the Nürburgring on June 1. A Golf GTI Clubsport 24h with a 256 kW (348 PS) 2.0-liter turbo engine, which is fueled with a new bioethanol fuel E20, also competed in the race.
