Vikings Women’s Tennis Signs Ayra Salim – Portland State University Athletics

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State women’s tennis program has strengthened its 2024-25 roster with the signing of incoming freshman Ayra Salim, Viking Head Coach Kyle Russell announced.

Salim, set to graduate from The Charter School of San Diego in 2024, will officially join the Vikings this coming fall in preparation for their 2025 dual season.

“Ayra’s ambition and hunger are what really stand out,” Russell said of the San Diego, Calif., native. “She is singularly focused on reaching her potential, and we’re excited for her to join our program!”

Salim was a finalist in the 2021 Premier Tennis Tour (PTT) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Additionally, she won the Newport Beach Open in 2020, and recently clinched the title again in 2024.

She joins Hana Abdelhamid as the second incoming freshman to sign with the Vikings ahead of the 2024-25 season.
