Verstappen facing Canadian GP penalty after qualifying infringement
Max Verstappen will be investigated after qualifying for the 2024 F1 Canadian Grand Prix, after ignoring the race director’s instructions.
The Dutchman progressed safely to Q3 but will face a trip to the stewards, due to an incident in the pit lane.
He failed to follow the race director’s instructions when leaving the pit lane, resulting in the Red Bull driver being placed under investigation.
It was an early blow for Red Bull in qualifying at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as Sergio Perez was eliminated in Q1.
The Mexican driver could only manage P16 in the first part of qualifying, just a handful of days after signing a new two-year deal.
