MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho men’s golf coach David Nuhn announced the signing of Central Florida transfer Tom Stephens, a native of Truro in Cornwall, England.

Stephens comes to Idaho as a redshirt sophomore after playing in three tournaments for the Knights as a true freshman in 2022-23.

The Englishman has an outstanding junior record. He made the British Boys Championship round of 16 and took fourth in the Boys Peter McEvoy Trophy both in 2021.

In 2023, he was the runner-up at the Midland Youth Championship and made the quarterfinals of the English Amateur Championship.

“I’m extremely excited to welcome Tom to our Vandal program,” Nuhn said. “He is a high-quality golfer, student, and young man. His outstanding resume speaks for itself, and I look forward to his impact on the team right away. Welcome to Moscow, Tom.”

Stephens joins English teammates Joe Sykes, the defending Big Sky Champion, and All-Big Sky honoree Sam Johnson. NIC transfer and Englishman Josh McCartain will also join the program in the fall.

He grew up Truro Golf Club and now plays at the Trevose Golf and Country Club on the North coast of Cornwall.
