UW men pick up commitment from French swingman Dominique Diomande

When it seemed as if Danny Sprinkle had finished a massive overhaul of the Washington men’s basketball team’s 2024-25 roster, the new Husky coach is squeezing in one more newcomer with seemingly tremendous potential.

On Wednesday, the Huskies picked up a commitment from French swingman Dominique Diomande, according to DraftExpress.com.

“Thank God, it was a long process, but his mercy we get to everything!” Dominique posted on the social media platform X.

The 6-foot-7 wing lists Tours, France, as his hometown and recently played professionally for ADA Bolis in the French Basketball League where he averaged 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals.

The 19-year-old Diomande also played for the Ivory Coast national team.

NBAdraft.net projects Diomande as the No. 48th pick in next year’s 2025 NBA draft and one of six Big Ten players drafted.

Still, it’s unclear how the Huskies will find a spot on the roster for Diomande considering they’ve allocated their maximum 13 scholarships among three returners and 10 newcomers.

Notes

  • Former Husky standout Abdul Gaddy is joining Sprinkle’s staff as the director of player development. Gaddy, a four-year starter (2009-13), ranks second all-time at UW with 469 assists.
  • Washington is adding former Utah associate head coach Tommy Connor as an assistant. He was released by the Utes in 2021.
