PRINCE GEORGE—The UNBC Timberwolves Men’s Basketball Program announced that they are adding a massive amount of range, defensive intensity, and international flair to their backcourt with the addition of 6’5″ shooting guard Danilo Gonzalez. The Canary Islands, Spain, product has committed to UNBC for the 2024-25 season and beyond.

Last season Gonzalez played for Lennoxville Prep School under head coach Djibril Ngom where he averaged 18 points, six rebounds and four assists per game. In addition, Gonzalez has spent time playing for head coach Ronald Gomez at Lenovo Tenerife (YBCL).

“In my opinion, I’m an all-around player. I can play defense on almost every position and also on offence. I really like to create fastbreaks, finish hard on the rim, and shoot threes whenever I can,” shared Gonzalez who recently participated in the True North Prep national championship tournament in Toronto. In the tournament, he received Player of the Game honours during a victory for Lennoxville on March 27, 2024.

“I’m excited to add Danilo to the roster,” says head coach Todd Jordan. “He’s played at a high level in Spain and that, along with his prep year experience in Quebec has prepared him to be ready for Canada West basketball. Danilo gives us guard size defensively and he is a good finisher at the rim and in transition. I expect him to be able to contribute early on in his university career.”
