The best golfers in the world are heading to Pinehurst, N.C., for the third major of the 2024 season.

Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele are among the contenders at this year’s U.S. Open after winning the Masters and PGA Championship, respectively. Scheffler, who owns the No. 1 spot in the PGA Tour rankings, recently held off Collin Morikawa to secure a victory at The Memorial Tournament.

Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland are also expected to be near the top of the leaderboard as play progresses at Pinehurst No. 2. And, of course, plenty of eyes will be locked on Tiger Woods, who is feeling confident heading into his first U.S. Open since 2020.

“I feel like I have the strength to be able to [compete and win],” Woods said on Tuesday. “It’s just a matter of doing it. This golf course is going to test every single aspect of your game, especially mentally, and just the mental discipline that it takes to play this particular golf course, it’s going to take a lot.”
