Tuesday tab: White Abarrio breezes ahead of Met Mile start

White Abarrio breezed a half-mile at Belmont Park on Tuesday ahead of his start Saturday in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Saratoga.
The 5-year-old son or Race Day breezed the four furlongs in 48.94 seconds, eighth fastest of 37 works at the distance.
The Met Mile will be White Abarrio’s first start since he finished 10th in the Saudi Cup (G1) in February. He was third in last year’s Met Mile after moving to Rick Dutrow’s barn in the spring. Then he won the Travers (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic.

White Abarrio (Race Day), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2023 Breeders’ Cup Classic, 2023 Whitney, 2022 Florida Derby), worked four furlongs in 48.9 seconds at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 37 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed 10th in the Saudi Cup (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the dirt at King Abdulaziz Racecourse on Feb. 24 for trainer Rick Dutrow.
Red Route One (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2024 New Orleans Classic), worked five furlongs in 1:00.8 at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the second fastest of 10 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed fourth in the Pimlico Special (G3) going 1 3/16 miles on the main track at Pimlico on May 17 for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Cazadero (Street Sense), a Grade 3 winner (2020 Bashford Manor), worked four furlongs in 54.0 seconds at Louisiana Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 16 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Louisiana Downs. In his last start he placed second in a claiming race going five furlongs on the turf at Evangeline Downs on May 9 for trainer Jonathan Wong.
Disarm (Gun Runner), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Matt Winn), worked five furlongs in 1:00.8 at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the second fastest of 10 works at the distance.
