Travel to Hong Kong in record time on new high-speed trains

Say goodbye to those long, grueling train journeys!

Beginning June 15, high-speed trains from Beijing or Shanghai to Hong Kong will cut the travel time to just 11-12 hours!

Nightly high-speed sleeper trains will supplement the existing pair of daytime high-speed trains between these important cities.

The total travel time from Beijing to Hong Kong will be slashed from 24 hours and 31 minutes to just 12 hours and 34 minutes. Similarly, the trip from Shanghai to Hong Kong will be cut from 19 hours and 34 minutes to 11 hours and 14 minutes. This means you can catch the train in the evening and arrive fresh the next morning.

Here are the details you need:

1. From Beijing West Railway Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station:

• Train D909 will depart Beijing West Railway Station at 8:13pm and arrive in Hong Kong at 8:47am the next day.
• Train D910 will depart Hong Kong West Kowloon Station at 6:24pm and arrive in Beijing at 6:53am the next morning.

2. From Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station:

• Train D907 will leave Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station at 8:15pm and arrive in Hong Kong at 7:29am.
• Train D908 will depart Hong Kong West Kowloon Station at 7:49pm and reach Shanghai early at 6:45am.

Each train will have 2 second-class, 13 sleeper carriages, and a dining car. The trains are equipped with advanced facilities to ensure a comfortable ride, with over 600 seats available per train – significantly more than regular direct trains.

Operating on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, the number of weekly trips will be go up from 14 to 16 high-speed sleeper trains.

Passengers will benefit from the “one-stop border clearance” at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, which will drastically save customs clearance time.

Also, passengers can arrive or depart from multiple stations on the route, like Shijiazhuang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen North, Hangzhou East, etc, unlike before, when they could only catch trains from Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

Tickets will go on sale from noon on June 5 on the China Railway website “12306” (and app), railway stations, and automatic ticket machines.

Three additional EMU trains will be added between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Guangzhou East Railway Station, and two trains between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Shenzhen North Station from June 15. Another route will link Hong Kong West Kowloon Station with Zhangjiajie West Station. With these additions, Hong Kong will be connected to mainland China with up to 127 pairs of EMU trains daily, reaching 16 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).
