After months of anticipation, the Ambani wedding is finally wrapping up. Easily the wedding of the year, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant tying the knot on July 12 has taken the internet by storm, and how!. While the bride and groom looked breath-taking on their big day, the entire wedding party was no less than a fashion extravaganza.

Here are a few trends we spotted at the Ambani wedding:

After more than a few years of literally all Bollywood celebs hopping onboard the bare neck trend, necklaces and loud jewellery are finally making a much-needed comeback. Even stars like Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor, who are more or less the pioneers of the no necklace trend couldn’t resist a good statement neckpiece at the wedding.

Hair accessories, more specifically braid jewellery were seen in large numbers at the high-profile event. While a maang tikka is quite standard for Indian weddings, Isha Ambani, Khloe Kardashian and even Shanaya Kapoor couldn’t resist a good braid moment.

Vintage fashion items are getting a lot of love on the global stage. And turns out, the trend has trickled down to desi ethnic wear too. While Alia Bhatt wore a 160-year-old archival saree for the wedding ceremony, Shloka Mehta too chose an archival Manish Malhotra ensemble for the ashirwad ceremony. The bride Radhika Merchant wore vintage jewellery that had been in the family for decades on her big day.

Gone are the days when loud and proud jewellery was only restricted to women at weddings. If handsome hunks Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar and their looks are anything to go by, men’s accessories, especially chunky neckpieces and brooches are changing the scene like no other.

Red and yellow were the predominant colours at the wedding, of course with a dash of gold thrown in the mix. While Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan rocked their blood red ensembles, Ananya Panday, Priyanka Chopra and Sharvari were more than happy with their sunshine yellow lehengas.
