Thursday tab: Dornoch fires a bullet + 11 other graded winners
In his first work since winning the Belmont Stakes, Dornoch fired a bullet Thursday morning at Saratoga, breezing four furlongs in 48.2 seconds on the training track.
Trainer Danny Gargan said after the race that the next start for the Good Magic colt could be the Jim Dandy (G2) or Haskell (G1) on his way to the Travers (G1).
Dornoch, a full brother to 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage, entered the Belmont after finishing 10th in this year’s run for the roses. He closed 2023 with a win in the Remsen (G2) and opened 2024 with a win in the Fountain of Youth (G2), followed by a fourth-place finish in the Blue Grass (G1).

It was the fastest of three works at the distance. His previous work was 17 days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the Arkansas Derby (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on March 30 for trainer Bob Baffert.
