This software is quietly making golf-club experiences even better

Whoosh isn’t just the sound your driver makes. It’s also an intuitive golf software company that is helping clubs manage tee times, optimize workflows and streamline their businesses.

The software, which became available in 2022, already is in place at a growing number of public and private golf facilities (and even racquet clubs). And now it’s expanding — with big plans in place — as it recently received $10.3 million in funding, which will support the company’s expansion in its existing space while fueling further development for its growing customer base.

The latest funding round was led by AlleyCorp, as well as seven other companies and a handful of celebrity investors, including NFL great Larry Fitzgerald Jr., tennis star Andy Roddick and pro golfers Kurt Kitayama and Alison Lee.

Whoosh is a one-stop shop that seamlessly manages and modernizes a club’s business needs. It recently partnered with financial services platform Square and boasts cloud-based and tablet-focused reservation and operation management tools essential to places such as golf clubs and entertainment venues. Golf clubs can also use the software to schedule lessons, communicate with staff and customers, accept payment transactions and much more.

It even manages analytics, identifying where guests are spending their time and money when on property.

“Whoosh is the most innovative and intuitive operations and activity management solution for private facilities,” Colin Read, Whoosh’s co-founder and CEO, said in a press release. “This investment enables us to further develop our product and bring these best-in-class hospitality and operational tools to public golf, racquet and ‘eatertainment’ venues worldwide. The vast majority of recreation and leisure companies operate with outdated technology, leading to revenue loss, staff inefficiency and siloed data. Whoosh has streamlined operations and enabled better hospitality at the most prestigious private facilities in the country, and our expansion will extend these solutions to facilities that put hospitality first.”

Fitzgerald, who is an avid golfer, called Whoosh “a game changer.”

“It has elevated both the member experience and the staff-side efficiency,” Fitzgerald said. “I was proud to invest in Whoosh because I’m excited about bringing this technology to even more facilities, enabling better hospitality and creating greater digital access in the sports industry.”
