Things to do for free with family in Kelowna this summer – Kelowna News

Free family fun this summer

With the rising cost of living these days, people are always on the lookout for a good deal, or even better yet, something to do for fun that’s absolutely free.

Heading into the summer of 2024, the City of Kelowna has planned a number of free and family-friendly events for residents and tourists to enjoy between now and the end of September, including Roller Nights, Dancing in the Park, Sunset Yoga, Park and Play, as well as Neighbourhood Pulse Pop-Ups.

Roller Nights: Every Tuesday

People can skate to the beat with Roller Night in Stuart Park every Tuesday, starting at 7:30 p.m. and running for two hours between July 9 and Aug. 27. Bring your own roller skates and safety equipment or rent from Roll Mates Skate located on site.

Dancing in the Park & Sunset Yoga: Every Wednesday

On Wednesday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. in Stuart Park, people can enjoy different dancing styles, including zumba, hip hop, line dance and more. All ages are welcome, with weekly events beginning on July 10. The dance will be followed by a yoga session, where people can watch the sunset starting at 8 p.m.

Park and Play: Week days

The Park and Play crew will be back at neighbourhood parks around Kelowna every weeknight from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with free games and activities for all ages. A full schedule can be found here.

Neighbourhood Pulse Pop-Ups: July 25, Aug. 29, Sept. 26

Join the community in exploring Kelowna neighbourhoods and everything they have to offer. This event aims to spark connection between neighbours and celebrate the essence of the community through carious activities at parks in town. These events will include a comedy night at Ben Lee Park, Bingo Beats at Sutherland Bay Park and a Trivia Night at Lion’s Park in Rutland. All events run from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
