The First Halo Game Is Reportedly Being Considered For PS5

The first game in the Halo series, Halo: Combat Evolved, is reportedly being considered for a release on PlayStation 5.

According to The Verge, Microsoft is working on some sort of remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved. It’s reportedly part of Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy, Project Latitude, and the company is considering placing it on rival platforms. PlayStation 5 is one obvious option here, but that could potentially mean Nintendo Switch as well.

If this remaster exists, however, it’s also apparently not going to be announced at Microsoft’s upcoming showcase on June 9. Microsoft’s showcase will also reportedly feature a new entry in the Doom series called Doom: The Dark Ages, as well as a new entry in the Gears of War franchise.

Microsoft has already brought some of its former Xbox exclusives to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. The first four games were Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, and Grounded.

Halo: Combat Evolved was first released for the original Xbox in 2001. It got a remaster in 2011 as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for Xbox 360, and is part of the Halo: Master Chief Collection for Xbox One and PC.
