SW Florida’s toughest golf holes and how to play them: TwinEagles Talon Course No. 18
Each week we will introduce you to one of the toughest holes golfers will face playing in Southwest Florida. Not only will we tell you which holes are most challenging but also give you how-to tips to conquer these beasts, or at least not have to color a solid square on your scorecard.

About the course: TwinEagles features 36 holes between the Talon and Eagle courses. Playing 7,420 yards from the longest tees, the Talon course was renovated by Jack Nicklaus and his son Jack Nicklaus II in 2021. Consistently ranked as one of the finest courses in Florida.
How to get your best score: This challenging finishing hole requires strategic play, featuring a mix of water hazards, bunkers, and undulating greens. Your tee shot demands accuracy and distance, with a strategic focus on positioning. Aim for the left-center of the fairway to avoid water hazards on the right. Depending on wind conditions and personal driving distance, a driver or 3-wood is advisable to ensure the ball lands safely in the fairway.
The approach shot must be precise to avoid the bunkers protecting the green. Positioning your shot toward the center of the green is crucial. Choose a club that allows you to carry the ball over any hazards and account for the green’s undulation. Consider wind and distance carefully.
The green is undulating, requiring careful reading of slopes and breaks. Focus on speed control and aim for the high side to manage the breaks effectively. Spend time practicing chipping and putting to navigate the challenging green complexes and improve your chances of avoiding three-putts.
Biggest challenges: The water hazard on the right side of the fairway. The bunkers protecting the green demand precise approach shots. The undulating green is a true test of skill and touch on your putt.
