Sustainable jobs bill set to become law after passing through Senate
The Liberal government’s sustainable jobs bill is set to become law after passing through the Senate on Tuesday evening.
Bill C-50, which will establish a framework to guide Canada’s economy towards a net-zero future, passed despite voracious opposition from the Conservatives, who have described the bill as “job-killing” and “anti-energy.”
Introducing legislation to facilitate sustainable jobs was a core tenet of the NDP’s supply-and-confidence agreement with the governing Liberals, which exchanges support during confidence votes for policy movement in key priority areas.
