Super Screener preview: Chalk has no bloom in Bed o’ Roses
Fresh off several big scores on Belmont Stakes day, Super Screener celebrates its eighth anniversary of a weekly product by returning a week later with several key plays at both Monmouth Park for its Haskell preview day and at Aqueduct.
A Super Screener subscription is more than just picks once a week, though. You also receive Power Picks and Horses to Single every day. Since Churchill Downs opened on April 27, Horse Racing Nation‘s Power Picks have shown a flat-bet profit in both Kentucky and at New York Racing Association tracks, Aqueduct and Saratoga.
Subscribe now through Breeders’ Cup and get 20 editions of Super Screener plus Power Picks and Horses to Single every day for 141 days for just $127.
Speaking of NYRA, that is the site of the only Screener race this week not a part of the all-stakes Pick 4 on Haskell Preview day at Monmouth as Aqueduct plays host to the Bed o’Roses Stakes. Super Screener is bearish on morning line favorite Flying Connection, preferring instead Shidabhuti.
“Picking up a great trip will be our top win pick-Shidabhuti – saving ground throughout, reserved a couple lengths off the pace while reserving plenty of energy to unleash her rally in the critical final stages of the race,” Mike Shutty says.
In addition to Shidabhuti’s excellence at this type of trip, 4-for-5 in one-turn races, including 2-for-2 at races between six and seven furlongs, she also has a class edge. She finished behind Randomized last out, and all Randomized did next out was beat champion Idiomatic in the Ogden Phipps (G1) on Belmont day at Saratoga.
“That was Shidabhuti’s lifetime top effort, and it came in her second start off the layoff,” Shutty says. “She gets far more pace to close into now and at her more ideal distance. She is easily the most reliable board hitter and with some luck a win candidate. Her 6-1 morning line would present tremendous value.”
In addition to picks and analysis of each race, Super Screener also includes wagering strategy. The Belmont Stakes strategy last week included a superfecta play that returned $3,200 for a buck.
