Stockton native Chelsea Gray makes 2024 USA Basketball Women’s National Team
The USA Basketball Women’s National Team has been announced and although Caitlin Clark may not be on the roster, a 209 basketball legend is — Chelsea Gray.
The St. Mary’s basketball alum and current Las Vegas Aces point guard made the team after playing a vital role in helping the Aces win back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023. She averaged over 15 points and seven assists per game in the 2023 season before a foot injury took her out during the championship series vs. the New York Liberty.
Gray has yet to play a game in the 2024 season but is expected to return. This marks Gray’s second time making the national team after competing in the 2020 Toyko Olympic Games. The 5-foot-11 shifty guard won the first gold medal of her career in Tokyo helping team USA go 6-0 at the games.
This accomplishment adds to Gray’s long list of accolades that she has acquired over her decade-long professional career. Gray is a five-time WNBA All-Star, three-time WNBA champion, WNBA Finals MVP, Commissioner Cup’s champion, and Commissioner Cup’s MVP. As a Ram, she was the catalyst for their 2008 CIF State Championship victory as a leader on and off the court.
Gray will look to continue to represent the 209 on the biggest stage of sports this year in Paris once the Olympics kick off on July 26.
