State govt’s training helps youths find jobs in Europe – Times of India

Bengaluru: In an interesting development, youths from the state have started landing jobs in European countries such as Slovakia and Hungary. Courtesy: The state govt’s training and employment scheme, rolled out by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation. A total of 94 youths, who completed BE, diploma, ITI and other job-oriented courses, have found jobs abroad with decent salaries. In fact, the selected candidates were given training as per their qualification, and were assisted by the corporation in getting visas, scrutinising documents, and arranging food, lodging and other facilities. All the candidates were given free training at Toyota Kirloskar unit in Bidadi. Dr Sharan Prakash Patil, minister of skill development and livelihood, made his officials ink an agreement with the external affairs ministry after learning about Slovakia’s interest in recruiting over two and half thousand assembly line operators. The department selected and started recruitment process of 94 candidates, including 54 ITI and 31 diploma holders, who were sent to Slovakia.Dr Patil, who distributed flight tickets to them in a send-off ceremony here, said that the first batch was sent on June 5, and they will continue sending candidates till July 1. The minister further added that each candidate would get 970 euros (Rs 86,000) per month as salary.Jobs for drivers in HungaryThe department has also facilitated jobs for 37 drivers in Hungary, welders in Mauritius and, continues the recruitment process for other technicians and blue collar jobs. M Kanagavalli, MD, KSDC, said, “We are trying to meet the human resources demand in Australia, Japan, Germany, Finland, Norway and other European and Gulf countries.” Countries, showing interest in skilled manpower available in Karnataka, are also looking for English communication skills. So, KSDC will soon start English language training at their centres, said sources.
