Stars coach Peter DeBoer rips reporter’s question, defends team – Sportsnet.ca

Dallas Stars head coach Peter DeBoer knows how hard it is to win in a Conference Final.

With just the four best teams remaining, DeBoer gave full credit to a skilled Edmonton Oilers squad he thought played a “perfect road game” in a Game 5 win on Friday.

But one thing DeBoer won’t stand for is his team’s character being questioned at this point in the year.

After a reporter questioned his team’s “lifeless” second period in the post-game presser, DeBoer defended his squad.

“Listen, there are always things you can do better,” DeBoer started. “You’re going to sit here and question our character if you want, you haven’t been around all year…

“I’m not going to do it. You go ahead and write whatever the (expletive) you want.”

Down 1-0 after the first, the Stars gave up two more in the second and trailed 3-0 heading into the third and final frame. Wyatt Johnston would get them on the board late in the third, but it was too little too late and now the Stars are on the brink of elimination.

DeBoer clearly has confidence in his team’s character, and it will surely be tested in Game 6.

You can watch the Stars try and keep their season alive in Game 6 live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 8 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. MT.
