STANFORD, Calif. – Rounding out the Stanford recruiting class of 2024, Kyle Smith, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men’s Basketball, has announced the signing of Anthony Batson, Jr. (Scottsdale, Ariz.).
“Anthony is a welcomed addition to our program, he has always had a strong desire from an early age to be at Stanford,” said Smith. “He has earned this opportunity and we could not be more pleased.”
Batson joins the Cardinal as a 6-3 guard from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Scottsdale, Arizona. A consensus three-star player from On3 and 247 Sports, Batson finished his senior campaign with averages of 22.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 62 percent from the floor and 45 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. He was a first team all-state honoree and the region Player of the Year.
“Anthony is a dynamic scorer. He makes threes and he possesses an athletic burst which enables him to play at and above the rim. His length and explosiveness should provide us with a defensive playmaker on the perimeter as well,” Smith continued. “We are thrilled to watch Anthony develop and grow in our program as we move into the ACC.”
Arriving at Stanford after a decorated career at Notre Dame Prep, Batson is the program’s all-time lead in wins, points, steals, blocks, field goals made and free throws made. He is also second in rebounds and was honored as the school’s Bemis Male Athlete of the Year in 2023.
Batson chose the Cardinal over offers from Arizona State, Colorado State, Nevada and Rice, among others. He is joined in the Cardinal’s freshman class of 2024 by Evan Stinson, Tallis Toure and Donavin Young.
