Shannen Doherty claims ex Kurt Iswarienko is purposely delaying divorce: He ‘hopes that I die before’ having to pay
Shannen Doherty accused her estranged husband, Kurt Iswarienko, of intentionally delaying their divorce to avoid paying spousal support.
Per documents obtained by People, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star alleged she still hasn’t been provided financial information about her ex’s “archive” of his photography.
The actress, who is currently battling stage 4 cancer, claimed the photographer is purposefully waiting until her condition worsens.
“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” Doherty, 53, wrote in the filing.
A lawyer for Iswarienko, 49, debunked the claims, alleging he wanted to finalize the divorce in September 2023 when he offered the “Charmed” alum a settlement deal, which she denied.
“Kurt is not ‘simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die,” Katherine Heersema wrote, per the docs. “He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.”
According to the filing, Doherty denied Iswarienko’s settlement agreement because he “skirted around the issues of his original works created during [their] marriage” and how much he earned.
The “Heathers” star — who filed for divorce in April 2023 after 11 years of marriage — requested Iswarienko cough up $15,343 in monthly spousal support and an additional $9,100 to cover the cost of her lawyers.
She also asked for $11,800 for additional fees she acquired “in efforts to obtain Kurt’s complete responses” for their legal proceedings.
Per the documents, Doherty expects her earnings to “drastically” lessen this year as she’s been unable to work due to her “recurrent health issues.”
“Today, virtually all of the income I earn is residual income from work that I performed prior to marriage,” she stated.
“I recently learned that ‘Charmed’ will no longer be streaming on any major streaming platform after June 30, 2024. As a result, my future residual income will dramatically decrease,” she continued, referring to her time on the WB show from 1998 to 2001.
As she’s out of work, the “Let’s Be Clear” podcast host also expects her medical bills to “dramatically increase” when her SAG health insurance is no longer valid.
She cited the $21,640 medical bill she received in 2023, claiming Iswarienko should have no issue helping pay it because he regularly spends money on ritzy items and experiences.
Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission two years later.
In 2020, she revealed the cancer came back and had spread to her brain while later metastasizing into her bones.
Amid her condition, Doherty admitted she has been slowly preparing for death by cleaning out her belongings to provide an “easier transition” for her mother, Rosa.
She’s even given up her dream to live in Tennessee with several horses.
