The Sarnia Imperials continued their perfect start in the new Ontario Power 5 Football League with a 32-12 road win over the Sudbury Spartans Saturday.

The Imperials, who led 20-0 at halftime, are alone in first place with a 2-0 record.

Spencer Bollman (offence), Mohamed Kadri (defence) and Dante Lewis (special teams) are the team’s players of the week.

The Imperials began the season with a 19-6 win over the Tri-City Outlaws. Kurt Nielsen was the league’s player of the week with six catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

Nielsen also scored the first touchdown in league history.

The Imperials are scheduled to visit the Sault Steelers (1-1) Saturday.

Pacers end season with two victories

The Point Edward Pacers ended the Ontario Jr. B Lacrosse League regular season on a two-game winning streak, but they’ll miss the playoffs for a second straight year.

The Pacers (3-17) beat the London Blue Devils 11-9 Sunday and the Welland Generals 12-11 Saturday at Point Edward Arena.

On Sunday, the Pacers scored three straight goals in the final 2:19, including Josh Manning’s winner with 40 seconds left.

Zachary Snider had three goals and three assists. Manning, Blake Broumpton and Ty Golden each scored twice, Cody Martin and Kaia Pierce added singles, and Austin Dalgety made 51 saves.

On Saturday, Caden Loken scored the winning goal with seven seconds left in regulation. Snider had three goals and six assists, Loken and Cyrus Sinopole also had hat tricks, Manning had a goal and four assists, Carson Crawford and Kaden Smith also scored, and Dalgety made 36 saves.

The Pacers placed second-last in the Western Conference. They’ve made one playoff appearance since 2017.

Crombeen posts two more shutouts

Ben Crombeen posted his fifth consecutive shutout Saturday as Sarnia FC tied the Norfolk Athletics 0-0 in the Western Ontario Soccer League’s Second Division.

Crombeen leads the division with six shutouts. Sarnia is in first place with a 6-0-1 record.

On Friday, Crombeen had a shutout for Sarnia FC’s Fourth Division squad in a 4-0 win over the Oakridge Blast. Ryan Cossa had a hat trick and Jared Esterhuizen also scored as the division leaders improved to 5-0-0.

Both Sarnia teams are scheduled to play Friday. The Second Division team will visit St. Columban in Exeter, while the Fourth Division team will host the Woodstock Stallions at Norm Perry Park at 8 p.m.

Nomads top Saints in Marshall League

The Sarnia Saints men’s A team (0-5-0) lost to the Toronto Nomads 36-22 Saturday at Norm Perry Park in Rugby Ontario’s Marshall League.

The Saints men’s B team (1-4-0) also lost to the Nomads 54-5.

The Saints are scheduled to host London St. George’s Saturday: B match at 2 p.m. and A match at 3:30 p.m.

The Saints women’s team (2-1-0) is slated to host Grimsby Saturday at 12:30 p.m. after losing to the Burlington Centaurs 38-25 in the Niagara Rugby Union.

Sarnia FC earns First Division tie

Aliyah Greaves, Sarah Houle and Olivia Di Cocco scored in Sarnia FC’s 3-3 tie at the St. Thomas Reds Sunday in the First Division of the London and Area Women’s Soccer League.

Sarnia FC (1-1-2) is scheduled to host the London U21 Whitecaps Tuesday at Norm Perry Park at 8:30 p.m.

In the Elite Division, Sarah Kirk and Morgan Colameco scored for the Sarnia Spirit (1-1-1) in a 2-2 tie with London United recently.

22U Brigade exit in tourney quarters

The Sarnia Brigade lost to Northumberland 5-4 in a quarter-final Sunday at the Vaughan Vikings 22U baseball tournament.

The Brigade finished with a 2-2 record.

They beat Mississauga Southwest 3-1 in the opener and then Cole Brydges tossed a complete game in an 8-4 win over London. They lost to Leaside 3-1.
