Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s first impressions shared by early buyers ahead of next week’s official debut – GSMArena.com news
We recently got our best look at the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro TWS earphones, which are expected to go official at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10 in Paris. These pictures were shared by Reddit user Plastic_Development1, who managed to purchase the Buds3 Pro from Walmart for $250. However, two more Reddit users – LiNx0NeXtUs and single_mind – also managed to buy the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro before the launch, and they all shared their impressions of the Korean brand’s upcoming TWS earphones on Reddit.
Let’s first see what Plastic_Development1 said. The user said the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s “sound is great but a little higher on the bass.” However, the user also noted that the “sound quality is superb,” and they prefer the Galaxy Buds3 Pro over their first-gen Apple AirPods Pro. The Ambient Mode and the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) are also better than the AirPods Pro. However, the voice recorded through the Buds3 Pro’s mic sounded muffled, and the mic quality was the same as the AirPods Pro.
Plastic_Development1 further said that the settings menu only showed AAC and SBC as supported audio codecs for the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro, which support touch controls – slide on the stem for volume adjustment and squeeze the stem to pause/skip the music.
A screenshot shared on Reddit revealed that the lights on Buds3 Pro’s stems can be turned on/off with the pinch-and-hold gesture. But this works when both the buds are out of the case and not in your ears. Also, the buds will require at least 30% battery to light up, and they will have support for three lighting styles – Blinking, Fade in and out, and Steady.
Another screenshot revealed Voice Detect support for the Ambient Mode, which can be turned off manually by pinching the earbud after it’s automatically enabled.
Regarding the design and build, Plastic_Development1 said the charging case and the Buds3 Pro feel premium. The user believes Samsung has used a plastic hinge for the case instead of metal, but “they don’t feel worse at all” compared to the AirPods Pro’s hinge and “feel sturdy” compared to Galaxy Buds2 Pro.
Reddit user LiNx0NeXtUs said the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s stems don’t feel like a big upgrade over the beans design of the Buds2 Pro, and the music quality isn’t different either. However, the Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s Ambient Mode is better than its predecessor, and they feel “as comfortable as the Buds2 Pro if not better.”
LiNx0NeXtUs said the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s ANC is also better than the Buds2 Pro’s and the AirPods Pro, which is something Plastic_Development1 also claimed. Additionally, LiNx0NeXtUs revealed that the slide gesture can only be used to control the volume while the pinch/press gesture can do four different things. By default, a long-press will let you switch between ANC and Ambient Mode.
Reddit user single_mind said that the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro and their charging case are very light and made of plastic, which makes them feel cheap. However, the Galaxy Buds3 Pro “are very sturdy” and have “no flex at all.” The “case is solid and has a very minor heft.” The charging case’s lid also “has a good magnet and the buds fit snuggly into the case.”
single_mind said the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s sound quality is “a lot better than the Pixel Buds Pro.” They have “better treble, better bass, and they are louder.” However, the 360° sound “is not great” and the head tracking “lagged a little on movement.”
The Ambient Mode is good but “not very natural.” However, “you can dial it down to make it sound less hissy.” The screenshot below shows how you can adjust it through the app, which offers a “fantastic” experience.
single_mind claimed the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are “very comfortable and great fit in the ears” and better than the Pixel Buds Pro. They also revealed that the Buds3 Pro come with medium-sized tips installed on them and a pair of small and large-sized tips in the box. A USB cable is also part of the package.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s “touch controls are good” and offer a “little haptic tick.” The Voice Detection also works very well. single_mind also shed some light on the battery performance and said a one-hour conversation with ANC enabled consumed about 33% battery, and putting the buds in the charging case charged them up to 97% in about 12 minutes.
Alongside the Galaxy Buds3 Pro, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Buds3 next week. A recently surfaced image of their retail box revealed that the vanilla buds will also have a stem design.
