Sage Hill’s girls basketball team doesn’t appear interested in relinquishing its status as a top contender.

Junior-to-be point guard Amalia Holguin scored 27 points and sophomore-to-be wing Kamdyn Klamberg added 19 as the Lightning defeated Brentwood 74-69 in the finals of the top division at the Girls California Live showcase on Saturday in Ladera Ranch.

Sage Hill finished 4-0 in the ABT bracket in its first tournament without graduated starters Emily Eadie (Princeton), Kat Righeimer (Northwestern), Zoie Lamkin (Orange Coast College) and Annabelle Spotts (University of Chicago). The group helped the Lightning reach the Open Division last season in the CIF-SS and regional playoffs and claim a state championship in 2022.

Klamberg and Holguin sank four and three 3-pointers, respectively.

Holguin’s stat line included six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Klamberg added seven rebounds.

Guard Aoki Perry and post Eve Fowler paced Sage Hill’s strong freshmen class with eight and seven points, respectively. Perry made two 3-pointers.

Lev Feiman had 20 points and six rebounds to pace Brentwood, the reigning CIF-SS Division 1 champion.

In the third-place game at Ladera Sports Center, Buena Park defeated Windward 71-62.

In other results Saturday, San Clemente defeated JSerra 95-89 in the Silver Division semifinals and went on to defeat Victory Christian of Chula Vista 75-65 in the finals of the BallerTV bracket.

Fairmont Prep beat Mira Costa 66-47 in the championship of the Kangaroo Division.

Crean Lutheran fell to Rialto 76-70 in the finals of the Passport Division.
