Rohit Sharma Set To Create History & Become 1st Cricketer In The World To…

Indian captain Rohit Sharma will create history on Wednesday (June 5) during India’s first match of the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to take place in New York against Ireland. The right-handed batter will become the first cricketer in the world to play at least one match in all nine editions of the T20 World Cup played so far.

The Indian men’s cricket team will play its first match in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday (June 5). India’s Group A match against Ireland is scheduled to take place at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Rohit Sharma will lead the world No. 1 T20I team in the ongoing tournament, which is taking place in the West Indies and the USA. During India’s tournament’s opener, Rohit will create history by becoming the first cricketer in the world to play in all nine editions of the T20 World Cup.

The 37-year-old Rohit made his T20 World Cup debut for India against England in Durban on September 19, 2007, and got a chance to bat for the first time on September 20, 2007, against South Africa. In the match against the Proteas, Rohit scored an unbeaten 50 and helped India qualify for the semifinals. He amassed a total of 30 runs from 16 balls against Pakistan in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup to play a big role in the Men in Blue’s title win.

Rohit played in all five matches of the 2009 T20 World Cup in England and scored 52 not out in the second match against India’s Wednesday’s opponent, Ireland. In the 2010 T20 World Cup played in the West Indies, Rohit amassed a total of 84 runs in two innings, which included 79 not out against Australia in Bridgetown on May 7, 2010.
