Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan is training at Keeneland and is looking less likely to point to the Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 24.

Trainer Kenny McPeek is “not in a hurry to bring [Mystik Dan] back” according to a report from David Grening of Daily Racing Form.

McPeek did not rule out the Travers completely, but did explain that his training would have to be “flawless” in order to make the race. According to the DRF report, the Grade 1, $1 million Pennsylvania Derby on Sept. 21 is in play as a possible return.

McPeek also trains Kentucky Oaks winner Thorpedo Anna. Though McPeek has never been shy to run his good fillies against males, he has kept Thorpedo Anna and Mystik Dan apart. Thorpedo Anna is probable for the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) next Saturday, and told DRF that the Travers is possible for her.
