After his victory in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap on Sunday at Saratoga, trainer Bob Baffert is considering bringing National Treasure back to the Spa for the Whitney (G1) on Aug. 3.

The target was reported by David Grening of Daily Racing Form on Sunday. Baffert told DRF, “I’d say the Whitney could be possible as long as he comes back well. He likes that time between races.” Baffert also told DRF that he believed National Treasure is a two-turn horse.

National Treasure has a 13: 4-2-2 record and earnings of $5,372,000. He has two wins in three starts this year, including the Pegasus World Cup (G1) and the Met Mile. In between, the 4-year-old son of Quality Road finished fourth behind Señor Buscador in the Saudi Cup (G1).

Baffert intends to bring Prince of Monaco back to Saratoga for the H. Allen Jerkens (G1) on Aug. 24, according to the report. Prince of Monaco finished second behind Book’em Danno in the Woody Stephens (G1) on Saturday. He does not have a planned next start for Imagination, who was seventh in the Woody Stephens.
