A manhunt is underway after a Saskatchewan RCMP cruiser was rammed and badly damaged on Thursday, sending one police officer to hospital.
Police said in a news release on Friday that a Saskatchewan RCMP combined traffic services officer was conducting patrols on May 30 when he saw a speeding vehicle on Highway 40 near Neilburg.
The officer tried to stop the vehicle, which did indeed stop — but in the middle of the road. The driver then reversed into the police cruiser before turning the vehicle around and hitting the police cruiser head-on twice.

Police said a passing civilian motorist rammed and disabled the suspect vehicle, preventing it from continuing to hit the cruiser. A man and a woman then ran from the vehicle into a wooded area.
The officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Cut Knife, Maidstone and Unity RCMP detachments as well as Saskatchewan and Lloydminster RCMP police dog services were called in, along with a drone.
The woman was arrested in the wooded area, but police have not yet located the man, described as appearing in his mid-30s to 40s, approximately 6′ tall, weighing 180 to 190 lbs., with black hair. Police said he was wearing a black or blue T-shirt, a dark ball cap, blue jeans, white running shoes and a grey or black medical mask or bandana.
If anyone has any information, call Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP or to inform Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at saskcrimestoppers.com.
