Random home invasion led to death of Surrey woman, says family

The father of a woman who was attacked in Surrey on Sunday night and later died says she was the victim of a home invasion.

According to a post on social media from Aron Dunn, his daughter — Tori Dunn — was inside her home on the 9800-block of 182A Street in Surrey’s Port Kells neighbourhood on Sunday when someone broke in.

“On June 16, 2024 Tori Dunn was victim to a home invasion that resulted in her death,” the dad wrote.

“We, her family cannot begin to understand how someone as kind as Tori could be victim to such senseless violence. Tori was loved by all that she met. She devoted her time and love to her friends and family, someone who lit up the room with her smile and laugh. She is loved more than words.”

When police arrived at the home, they found Dunn injured. She was taken to hospital where she later died.

According to Surrey RCMP Cpl. James Mason, the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service helped locate a suspect in the area.

Global B.C. is reporting that suspect was recently released from custody and has a long and violent criminal past.

Dunn said a vigil in her honour would be held at Surrey Bend Regional Park at 7 p.m. this Saturday, June 22.
