Prospect Watch: Offspring of Grade 1 dams debut this week

Horse Racing Nation’s Prospect Watch scans all upcoming entries for starters early in their careers who sold for more than $500,000 at their most recent auction or whose dams or siblings are graded-stakes winners.

Among this week’s runners who meet the Prospect Watch criteria are these spotlight maidens:

Wednesday

Churchill Downs race 4, half-sibling to Grade 3 winner Honor D Lady

And One More Time is a 2-year-old filly sired by Omaha Beach and a half-sister to the Grade 3-winning mare Honor D Lady, who won the Royal Delta (G3) earlier this year. Trained by Mark Casse, she begins her career as the 9-2 third choice in a field of 12 going 4 1/2 furlongs on dirt with jockey Jose Ortiz up.

Favored at 3-1 in the same race is Reliable Source, a 2-year-old filly by Volatile, trained by Steve Asmussen and a half-sibling to Grade 3 winner Mucho Del Oro. She will be ridden by Christian Torres.

Churchill Downs race 5, foal of Grade 1-winning dam Sunset Glow

Hue is a 3-year-old filly by Ghostzapper out of the Grade 1 winner Sunset Glow, who won the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante in 2014. Trained by Brad Cox, she debuts at 6-1 on the morning line in a field of 12 sprinting five furlongs on the turf. Florent Geroux has the call.

Laurel Park race 9, foal of Grade 1 winner Forever Together

For Arrogate is a 3-year-old filly from the final crop of Arrogate out of the Grade 1-winning mare Forever Together. Trained by Jonathan Thomas, she debuts in a maiden special going 1 1/16 miles over the Laurel turf course.

Churchill Downs race 4, half-sibling to Grade 1 winner Newgate goes from maiden victory to stakes company

Adeera, a 2-year-old filly by Authentic and a half-sibling to Grade 1 winner Newgate, broke her maiden at first asking on May 31 at Churchill Downs for trainer Steve Asmussen. She now goes in the $225,000 Debutante stakes on closing day.
