Predators, Maple Leafs, Devils, Rangers among teams expected to be busy ahead of NHL Draft
The 2024 NHL offseason is well underway as there’s been a flurry of activity on the trade market, even before the Stanley Cup was handed out. The Florida Panthers hoisted Lord Stanley on Monday night and now the attention turns to what’s to come.
The 2024 NHL Draft is this weekend live from The Sphere in Las Vegas and keep an eye on a number of teams who are expected to be busy, including the Nashville Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers.
The Predators exceeded expectations last season and made the Stanley Cup Playoffs and now general manager Barry Trotz looks to find some secondary scoring. The Toronto Maple Leafs have some major decisions to make as they look to get over the hump. Meanwhile the New Jersey Devils have already shored up their goaltending depth and look to continue to upgrade their roster, while the New York Rangers created some cap space recently and now have more flexibility financially ahead of the busiest week of the year.
On today’s episode of Daily Faceoff Live with Frank Seravalli and Colby Cohen, a question was brought up in the chat asking Frank about who he felt could be the most active this week:
Frank Seravalli: I’ll give you a few, I would say the Nashville Predators certainly stand out, I’d say the Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils. New York Rangers, Chris Drury always has an aggressive posture. And how about the Vancouver Canucks, another team that had a successful season and took the Oilers to Game 7 of the second round. Colby is there one team that stands out to you that you’d like to see be most aggressive over the next seven-to-10 days?
Colby Cohen: I think you can never sleep on the Vegas Golden Knights. I think they’re always the wildcard, you never think they have room and they always somehow find the room to make it happen. So I’ll always keep my eyes on them.
