Possible watermain break blocks stretch of 16 Ave in NW Calgary
Crews have blocked off a stretch of 16 Avenue in NW Calgary due to flooding caused by a possible watermain break.
Police tell CityNews that Calgary fire crews were in the process of closing off the major route from Home Road to 49 Street NW around 7:15 p.m. due to water on the road.
Traffic cameras in the area show water filling all lanes of 16 Avenue NW just west of the intersection with Home Road. Westbound motorists are being diverted northbound onto Home Road.

A caller to the CityNews 660 newsroom who lives in the area says the water pressure in their home was down to a trickle. Several others in the Bowness area have taken to social media to say they have no water.
Fire crews are on scene trying to figure out the cause of the flooding, but the city’s webpage that lists watermain breaks had no entries as of 8 p.m.
