A friendly round of golf on a Friday morning turned into a golfer’s dream for Port Alberni’s Cody Breuker.
Breuker and a group of friends had barely started a fun round at Alberni Golf Course when he hit a hole-in-one. It was his first in 20 years of golfing.
“It was a pretty cool feeling,” he said.

Breuker scored his ace on hole No. 2, a par-3 that requires a precise tee-off because the green is located over Cherry Creek and through a narrow gap between trees. “The pin was on the right side of the green,” Breuker recalled. “I was able to play pretty straightforward shot into there, being on the left side of the tee box.
“To be honest, we couldn’t see it land due to the morning sun, so no one saw it go in, unfortunately.”
He and some of his golf partners thought they saw the ball on the green by the flag. It wasn’t until they were walking up to the green that they realized “there was no ball on the green. Sure enough, a quick look in the hole and there it was,” Breuker said.
Breuker said he picked up his golf ball from the cup to save it for a souvenir. “(I) won’t be using that one ever again.”
