London police have launched an investigation after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near Victoria Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

A man was taken to hospital following the collision but the extent of his injuries was unknown Saturday, police said.

A woman, who only identified herself as Sarah, said she was in the area going for an appointment when she said she heard a “thud.”

“When I turned, I saw a man lying on the ground,” she said.

A backpack’s contents could be seen strewn on the road while a white Honda SUV was parked on the north lanes of Wellington Road.

The collision forced the closing of the intersection of Wellington and Commissioners roads between Base Line Road East, High Street, Wilkins Street, and Western Counties Road.

Police advised residents a drone would be flown in the area as part of the investigation, while asking people to avoid the area.
