PG residents brave the rain for ALS Walk – My Prince George Now
A small contingent of Prince George residents gathered in Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park for the 2024 Move to Cure ALS Walk.
“This is our signature event for the ALS Society of BC,” said Event Coordinator Kristi Francis.
“There are cities across BC that are hosting these events over the month of June. June is actually ALS Awareness Month.”
Francis noted the goal for fundraising is $20,000.
“We are quite low in donations at this juncture but any amount helps,” she added.
“The funds go directly to impact patients and their families living with ALS. 60 per cent of the funds raised go to patients, and 40 per cent goes to what’s called Project Hope, and that’s a research centre out of UBC where we can access more drug therapies and clinical trials for patients living with ALS.”
Francis said they are taking donations until the end of the month on the ALS Society of BC’s website.
