One person has been sent to hospital after reportedly falling from a ride at Canada’s Wonderland on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the afternoon at the amusement park in Vaughan, just north of Toronto, when a guest was on the Swing of the Century, a spokesperson told CTV News.

“Park medical staff and EMS responded, and the guest was taken to hospital,” the spokesperson said. “The safety of our guests and associates is our top priority.”

The guest fell 30 to 40 feet and was taken to a trauma centre, York Region Paramedic Services told news outlet CP24.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted. How the person fell from the ride was not disclosed. The statements from the park and emergency services did not include the type of injury sustained, or the age or gender of the guest.

The ride, previously called Swing of Siam, can seat 48 people and has a “thrill level” rating of three out of five, meaning “moderate.”

It was one of the original rides that was on-site when the park opened in 1981, per Canada Wonderland’s website.
