Optimist Youth Football celebrates 75 years with a day full of activities in Boise

Founded in Boise’s North End in 1949, Optimist Youth Football is a nonprofit organization that emphasizes community, team spirit, and inclusion.

To celebrate their time in the Treasure Valley, Optimist Youth Football marks its 75th anniversary with a full day of activities on Saturday, July 13, from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex, 9889 W. Hill Rd. Parkway, Boise.

Starting at 8:30 am, Idaho State coach Cody Hawkins and his staff will lead a Coaches Clinic, mandatory for all currently enrolled Optimist Youth Football coaches. No registration is needed, and the public is welcome to observe.

At 1:00 pm, the Kids Skills Camp begins, offering football players aged 8 to 13 a chance to learn from Boise State football stars like Ashton Jeanty, Maddux Madsen, Markel Reed, Latrell Caples, Tyler Crowe, Alexander Teubner, Austin Bolt, and Ahmed Hassanein. The camp is open to those interested in tackle, flex flag, and girls flag football. Registration is required, and limited spots remain.

At 6:00 pm, the 75th Anniversary Celebration will feature football legends Bryan Harsin, Jake Plummer, Dan Hawkins, Spencer Danielson, and others sharing their stories and youth football memories. The event includes memorabilia, food trucks, and soft drinks.
