Olympics 2024: France men’s and women’s national basketball team rosters officially announced

On Monday, the Fédération Française de Basketball (French Basketball Federation) officially announced the roster of the men’s and women’s national teams. We already reported that Washington Wizards guard Bilal Coulibaly made the men’s national yesterday. And here is the X post from la fédération itself.

France men’s national basketball team roster

Here is the men’s national team roster, along with the team each player is on:

  • BILAL COULIBALY, G, WASHINGTON WIZARDS
  • Andrew Albicy, G, Herbalife Gran Canaria (Spanish Liga ACB)
  • Nicolas Batum, F, Los Angeles Clippers
  • Isaia Cordinier, G/F, Virtus Bologna (Italian LBA)
  • Nando De Colo, G, ASVEL (French LNB Pro A)
  • Evan Fournier, G, Detroit Pistons
  • Rudy Gobert, C, Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Mathias Lessort, C, Panathinaikos (Greek Basket League)
  • Frank Ntilikina, G, Partizan (Serbian Basketball League)
  • Matthew Strazel, G, AS Monaco (French LNB Pro A)
  • Victor Wembanyama, F, San Antonio Spurs
  • Guerschon Yabusele, F, Real Madrid (Spanish Liga ACB)

Five players on Les Bleus are on NBA teams, including Coulibaly.

France women’s national basketball team roster

Here is the women’s national team roster, along with the team each player is on:

  • Valeriane Ayayi, F, USK Praha (Czech CWBL)
  • Marieme Badiane, C, Fenerbahçe (Turkish KBSL)
  • Romane Bernies, G, Basket Lattes (French LFB)
  • Alexia Chery, F, ASVEL Feminin (French LFB)
  • Marine Fauthoux, G, Lyon (French LFB)
  • Marine Johannes, G, Lyon (French LFB)
  • Leila Lacan, F, Union Féminine Angers Basket 49 (French LFB)
  • Dominique Malonga, C, Tarbes Gespe Bigorre (French LFB)
  • Sarah Michel Bourry, G, Bourges Basket (French LFB)
  • Iliana Rupert, C, Virtus Segafredo Bologna (Italian Serie A1)
  • Janelle Salaun, F, Famila Schio (Italian Serie A1)
  • Gabby Williams, F, ASVEL (French LFB)

While Les Bleues (feminine groups have slightly different spellings in French) have no WNBA players right now (as in the 2024 regular season to date), Johannes, Rupert and Williams have previous WNBA playing experience and played in the WNBA in 2023. Williams specifically is a dual American-French citizen, and grew up in the USA, playing college basketball at Connecticut from 2014-18.

Lacan was a first round draft pick by the Connecticut Sun this year, though she is a draft-and-stash. Fauthoux was also a 2021 WNBA draft pick but never came stateside.

Alright, which Frenchies will BF be covering?

Given that Bullets Forever covers the Washington Wizards and Mystics, we’re focusing the bulk of our French basketball attention on the men’s team because Coulibaly is there.

That said, Les Bleues will play against Canada which has Aaliyah Edwards and Australia which has Jade Melbourne. So if you don’t know who’s on the French women’s team, now you do.
