NFL teams with Hallmark for Kansas City Chiefs romance movie

Taking apparent cues from Travis Kelce‘s romance with Taylor Swift, the NFL has teamed up with Hallmark for a new holiday romance film.

The league’s Skydance Sports will executive produce Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, set to begin production next month across Kansas City, Missouri locations, including GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Tyler Hynes, Hunter King, and Ed Begley Jr. will star in the film slated for Hallmark’s annual Countdown to Christmas programming.

The official synopsis reads: “Alana (King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s Fan of the Year contest. Derrick (Hynes), director of fan engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists. As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them.”

When Alana’s grandfather’s (Begley) vintage lucky Chiefs hat goes missing, however, she “begins to doubt everything she believed about fate and even questions her future with Derrick” — that is, unless “a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.”

“With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations,” said Darren Abbott, Hallmark’s chief brand officer. “By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions, and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way.”

Notably, Hynes also starred in a Hallmark-esque rom-com spoof, “Falling for Football,” opposite Janel Parrish earlier this year that appeared to reference the Swift and Kelce romance. Kelce’s mother, Donna, made a cameo in the spoof.

Swift and Kelce have been romantically linked since late last year, with the pop star making highly-publicized appearances at the football player’s games, including this year’s Super Bowl. The NFL has heavily leaned into coverage of the relationship. The two recently made headlines after Kelce joined Swift on stage during the London leg of her Eras Tour, donning a top hat during the pop star’s performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
