NFL.com predicts Packers quarterback Jordan Love will earn team MVP
Jordan Love is riding an incredible high this off season, thanks to the way he and Green Bay finished 2023. The Packers quarterback is a big deal in the NFC and no longer a question mark in the post-Aaron Rodgers era.
So it’s not a surprise that Love is being recognized on pre-season lists predicting post-season accolades. On Wednesday, NFL.com predicted Love would earn Packers team MVP honors for 2024. League insider Eric Edholm compiled the list, choosing an MVP for each team. And surprisingly, the honorees weren’t all quarterbacks.
Edholm wrote of the Packers quarterback:
“If Love reprises his play from the second half of last season, he’s an easy choice here. But if we see too much of the hot-and-cold Love from prior to November (and we’ll throw in his fourth quarter in the playoff loss to the 49ers), it could make this selection look silly in hindsight.
“But there’s really no other logical pick for me, even with Love being a little inconsistent overall in his first year as the Packers’ starter. Looking back at the total result, last season stands as a success. He was the team MVP in 2023 and has the offensive weapons to maintain that mantle for many years. Even with team-MVP-worthy defenders such as Rashan Gary and Jaire Alexander on the roster, this wasn’t too difficult a choice.”
The Packers helped build a better surrounding cast around Love this off season. The team signed Josh Jacobs, who led the league in rushing in 2022, in free agency. After allowing Aaron Jones to leave in free agency, Green Bay kept A.J. Dillon and drafted former USC star MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of April’s draft.
Plus, the Packers worked on the offensive line, which can only help Love. They signed offensive tackle Andre Dillard, who joined the NFL in 2019 as a first-round pick. They also selected Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan, who can play guard, with the 25th pick of the first round while adding Duke’s Jacob Monk in the fifth.

Meanwhile, Love is a trendy pick for analysts looking for league MVP candidates other than Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson. Judy Battista of NFL.com listed her top 10 of potential darkhorses for the league honor. Love was No. 8 on the list.
And Love also is in line for a hefty contract extension. The Packers want to get the deal worked out before the team reports for training camp July 22. There is much speculation that Love’s contract could match or exceed the $55 million annual salary of Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence.
Again, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Love is on a team MVP list.
